Still Looking...

So Commander is up in Wisconsin enjoying his new job and being with his family. It's been about 3 months now....three LOOOOOOONNNNG months. I'm getting by ok....he's been home a couple of times....Thanksgiving weekend and then for a little over a week at Christmas time...I'll be heading up there in a little less than 3 weeks for a 20 day visit. I'm really looking forward to it...even if it IS cold as hades!!.....a little disappointed to learn that he'll actually be out of town on business for my first few days up there!! Oh well....what can we do.....that's life.

In the meantime CDR is still looking at houses and property up there. We aren't sure exactly what we want to do. Wait and build, buy an older, smaller, (cheaper) house now, or wait to buy a nicer(needs no work) house after this one sells( we've only had two slightly interested buyers so far and neither one panned out) ..Yesterday CDR went to check out a piece of Property our realtor told him about. It's way out in the boonies....WAY out. He ended up in a snow filled ditch....luckily for him the landowner happened to come by and found him and pulled him out...Otherwise he might still be out there!!! I told him he needs to make sure he was his car equipped to see him thru being snowed in if he's going to be doing these wilderness drives....

Anyway he got to talk to the owner and it all sounds very interesting....there are actually 3 parcels for sale....60 acres of just land.....40 acres with a 2 room hunting shack( unfortunately this parcel is to wet too build an actual house on , so it wouldn't work for us) and another 40 acre parcel with a Log Cabin House on it....this is where the landowner lives now.. according to CDR it's a really beautiful property. The owner has been there since he was 18 years old( when he bought it), he's now in his late 50's ..he owns a landscaping store and the property is beautifully landscaped....he has tons of Tulips planted....and the property comes with a couple of Peacocks!! How cool would THAT be???

I'm not a big fan of Log Cabins...but I have been rethinking that lately....it might be kinda neat if we are going to live in the "wilderness"...I do really like the idea of living out in the country with 40 or 50 acres of 'wilderness" to hike and enjoy. Anyway he's still looking at various homes and property...I just wish this place would sell...we'd be in such a better position to finally make some choices.

Knowing Wisconsin as I do, I can tell you that kind of property is not easy to come by. If it's available, if it's something you want (lots of land and being remote) and you can afford it...I say go for it now. It won't last, and the price will only continue to go up. If you have to live in a log cabin for a while, or even a long time, if the land is important to you, look at that before the accommodations.
