The next morning we had to get up bright and early to head over to the University. We found it easily enough...and made it to Orientation on time.
We were heartily welcomed by an enthusiastic OPA(Orientation Peer Advisor). And then another, and another, and another...and so on....There should be a law about too much enthusiasum so early in the Morning...especially Before I've had decent Coffee.
JMU's Orientation is quite extensive in the sense that they have your day planned down to the last minute.....even for the parents.....Most of it was quite Boring and the Co-ed and I played hookie for a few of the 'seminars".....for the most part it was all a bunch of 'feel good' ...how to handle the emotions of sending your child off to college etc etc. For a really laid back parent like me...it was just TOO MUCH....I mean sure...I miss Co-ed and it is a little difficult to see my kids growing up and becoming independant....but...that's life and I'm happy for them and proud to see them doing so well. My kids also don't seem to get THAT homesick....they are excited to enter this new Stage in their lives. Anyway, at least we found the Starbucks on Campus( during one of our 'hookie" moments..LOL) So we endured a day of way too peppy OPAs....boring lectures....and walking walking walking. Drama Teen got her schedule all squared away, registered for the classes she wants, got a glimpse of the dorms and is hopefully all set to go off to JMU this fall!
