Day Two and Beyond........

So Day Two was actually a fun day for me....CDR had his Security Clearance at the plant on Tuesday..so that left me Free to spend the day with my SIL and her gorgeous Grandbabies(depicted in the pics last post) I bought some yarn at Hobby Lobby..spent WAY more than I meant to..LOL..but I needed something to keep me occupied on those LONG drives out to the Coast for the rest of the week...We then met back up with CDR and her husband for Dinner at MIL's.

On our Third day we drove back out to Algoma to meet up with our Realtor and look at some homes and properties.

This was the first house...While it had the most awesome views of any house we looked at it just wasn't the house for us.....

It was dated ( as seen here) and had a few too many issues.....that we did not want to deal with...
The second home was a bit small and being a former Log Cabin ....
There was just WAY TOO MUCH Wood for MY taste........ We then went with the realtor to look at most of the properties we'd checked out the day before on our own...After leaving the Realtor for the day..we came across THIS gem......

The Brick work was absolutely beautiful...we had seen it in one of the Homes Magazines...and CDR thought it was a 1901 home(it was actually an 1890's home). We thought it would be an awesome house to refurbish.....so we called the Realtor asking to see it the next day....
and then while driving around we came across this one....it was right across the street from Lake Michigan and had a Great View and was in a really nice little neighborhood. So we asked to see this one the next day as well.... On Day 4 we started out by looking at a few homes the Realtor had picked for us....This was was nice...a little dated but a beautiful yard and on 7 acres.....in the end though we just couldn't justify the price they were asking....

This next one is actually a contender.....it's a nice size home...not too bad inside....some minimal updating will need to be done......it's on I think 12 acres.....right on the Manitowac River......we just aren't sure we can justify the price on this one either...but it's a consdieration at least....

This is the back view looking up from the river....
a little garden area next to the house....

This cute little 1940's home was one CDR wanted to see.....it WAS cute on the outside and not tooo bad on the inside but would need more work than we are willing to do...and was on a busy street....

Then we got too see this one.....while it would be a GREAT house to restore.....it was just WAY TOO MUCH of a mess inside.....and we just don't have the time to really invest in it...mainly the investment wouldn't pay off as we would never get our money back from renovating it....it would have been awesome though!
the 'door bell" ...how cute is THAT!!
This one was pretty cool....built in the 20's.....and in really good shape.....this one was a contender for a little bit...may still be even...although as cute as it is.....and unique as it is inside I'm just not sure I could really 'live' there......
the front door...

check out that wallpaper! isn't it cool!?
A little vintage bathroom....
cool arched hallways.....
look at that light fixture..and if you look closely you can see designs in the plaster.....
Back to this one again......this one we really considered...it would need a lot of updating but we think we could get our money back out of it...plus it was at an awesome price and pretty much right on the lake...the kitchen would need to be totally redone and we'd make a master bedroom suite upstairs..adding a master bath and walk-in closet....it has view from the whole front and side ....and the lot size is not too bad for a city lot...

The view from the street....house is to the left out of view....
View from the small balcony off of what would be our Master Bedroom......

As I said we seriously considered this one for a while....it would be a lot of work but probably worth it...it's a cute little cottage.....and not in bad shape...and so worth the price....but.......

one of the houses we looked at that day was sooo "perfect''...and I mean PERFECT... there's not one thing we'd need to do to it....and although it is pretty costly ( at least to us...) it is soooo worth it and we could afford it.....it's going for a little less than we plan to ask for our home here in VA and we'll be getting soooooo much more than we have here......we can't afford it without our home here selling..so we haven't put an offer on it yet...although we really aren't too worried about it selling out from under us.....and if it does then I guess it just wasn't meant to be ..but we think it's safe for a little while anyway......it's soo awesome it gets it's own post.....
