Last Weekend-Poor Clares

Last weekend we went to Poor Clares Monastery and I never did post about it. I took a ton of pictures. We were up there to help them out with some odd jobs they needed done around the property...and to work on a Memorial Garden for them in Memory of Father Richardson. It was a hot day and we all worked hard. The Monastery Grounds are so beautiful. Not many people get invited in to see it all, as they are a Cloistered sect, meaning they keep to themselves and really don't interact much with the outside world. We only got to interact with few of the Nuns..
Setting up the tent and tables..so we have a bit of Shade to rest in and a place to make lunch later....Here a few of the guys have started working on the Memorial Garden. One of our guys is a professional landscaper so he was in charge of this project. He and his son laying the Flagstone...

Mother Abbess brings us down to the Monestary Grounds so we can see what one of the other Sisters would like done on a few of the trails they have...What a view! Here is their small cemetary. Walking along one of the many trails they have...Isn't the view gorgeous?Conferring with one of the Sisters on what she would like to have done here. Backside of the Monestary....Back at the trails...even the kids helped out...Commander working on the unfinished basement rooms....Time for Lunch.....got to feed those hungry men....Great progress...looking good....Conferring with Mother Abbess again....That Church you see here..is not part of the Monastery...it's actually a Mount Olive Baptist Church across the street from them...the congregation has been just wonderful to them. They keep an eye out for the Nuns...make sure they are doing ok...very nice people....and here...we have the finished product..or "almost " finished....Our ladies group has pooled together to buy a garden bench that will sit there in front of the cross...with an Inscription in dedication to Father Ed.

This project has been a collaboration between the Women's Group at our chapel, the Knights at our Chapel, even the Children at our Chapel....and other Knights and Squires from other Churches in our area....
